Our Farm of the Future (Seriously, it's under Construction)
Growing with Good Luck
We will grow as much as we can on our small property with the majority of the produce being grown in shipping containers and greenhouses. A goal at Good Luck Gardens is to act as a "Farm Bunker" for the community, maintaining healthy production volumes through adverse weather conditions.
Our farm will start from day one with processes in alignment with Certified Naturally Grown standards. After 1 year of growing we will apply for our CNG certification and be able to help others in the area apply for there's.
- FarmPodĀ - Our main production house. AQUAPONICS! Think hydroponics but replace chemical fertilizers with fish poop...It's a closed loop growing method that uses the symbiotic relationship between fish (aquaculture) and plants (horticulture). Believe it or not, it's a process that dates back to Aztecs and Egyptians. Check out this great video on their product.
- Microgreens, Sprouts, Fodder - Grown undercover in a greenhouse and also in a shipping container farm with supplemental lighting. This space will also be used as a transplant nursery.
- FarmBot - A system for robotically seeding, weeding, watering, and monitoring plant health on a 10 ft x 20 ft raised bed. Of course, plenty of traditional raised beds to grow on too.
- Mushrooms - 500 to 1,500 pounds per month of different varieties. Grown in a shipping container with minimal power. All containers at GLG are climate controlled with automation for monitoring produce health, standard solar system and rain catchment.
Remaining land will be dedicated to traditional soil gardening. All landscaping will be native and edible. Hillside could be terraced for many uses such as breadfruit, bananas, mangoes, avocado, aloe vera, passion fruit, papaya, moringa, and more.
